Bitrix24 can be used as an online service (Cloud version, SaaS) and as a ‘box’ product (Self-hosted version, i.e. installed on your own server). Both versions have their benefits and trade-offs associated with deployment and maintenance.

So your first question is  - the difference between licencing and implementation costs for Bitrix24 cloud and on-premise. Right?

Costs associated with Bitrix24 Cloud version:

  • Basic hardware assets (workstation / laptop / mobile device that can provide access to the Web);
  • Internet access (various options provided by ISPs or mobile carriers);
  • Monthly (semiannual or annual) fees for a Bitrix24 subscription option;
  • Additional customisation, training and maintenance support may be involved billed an hourly rate or with support packages.
  • We usually suggest to empower one user on-site that can assist the users. That empowers you with the use of your system and limits your support costs – but if you do not have a “super-user” we are always there for support.

Costs associated with Bitrix24 Self-hosted version:

  • Hardware that meets the specified requirements – requirements attached.
  • Commercial license key for a Bitrix24 Self-hosted version + annual license renewal fee based on 25% of your initial purchase. The renewal is optional but it provides you with all the latest software updates and support from the Bitrix Technical team.
  • Consulting for outsourced or in-house IT-staff for project implementation and maintenance (depends on many factors; can be a one-time payment for a turn-key intranet solution developed by a Bitrix Partner, or can involve hourly payments for the services provided by IT-specialists).

Other factors
There are several instances when on premise Bitrix24 editions have to be used instead of cloud - when law requires that data has to be stored in a specific location, when you need source code access, when you need Bitrix24 tools that aren't available in cloud or when you don't want to use cloud services due to internal policies. Hardware requirements to run Bitrix24 cloud and Bitrix24 Premise editions. Even though the solution is hosted on-premise is still needs an internet connection to the Bitrix servers to verify information and to download the latest updates.*

Bitrix24 Cloud hardware requirements.
For the cloud solution the users and administrators needs basic hardware assets (workstation / laptop / mobile device that can provide access to the Web). The preferred browser is Chrome but Internet Explorer and edge should be sufficient as well. The Bitrix24  desktop app gives you the ability to synchronise your Bitrix24 Drive documents for offline use, using the Bitrix24 chats, voice calls and video calls you need a resource with enough memory to run the app at all times.
